  The Space Marine Wulfen Company

(To use the Wulfen army list both Codex: Space Marines and Codex: Space Wolves are needed)

Special Rules

Wulfen armies follow the following Space Wolf rules as well as their own special rules.

1. And They Shall Know No Fear

2. Acute senses

The following rules are either exclusive to the Wulfen or are modified Space Wolf rules.

1. No Drop Pods: No Wulfen units may use drop pods.

2. Will Not Teleport: No Wulfen units may teleport into play.

3.Counter Attack: To Wulfen, attack is the best form of defense. When attacked unengaged Wulfen models in the assaulted unit  may move into base contact with their attackers, if within 6", and will count as charging.

4. Fenrisan Wolves: The wolves of Fenris are vicious predators. It is often the case that a Wolf Lord will attempt to bend a pack of these wolves to his will, by defeating the pack leader in close combat. The pack will then accompany him into battle. A Wulfen character may be accompanied into combat by up to four of these creatures. Also, so close have the mutating and degenerate Wulfen become to wolves as the change overcomes them that it is sometimes the case that a unit of Wulfen warriors is accompanied to battle by some of these dangerous predators. At the start of a battle roll a D6 for each unit in your army, if you roll a 1 or a 6 the unit is joined by D3 wolves. (Note, these wolves must be represented by suitable models)

5. Curse of the Wulfen: The Wulfen simply do not know the meaning of fear, and will automatically pass all Morale or Pinning tests and may ignore opposing troops that can cause an opponent to automatically fall back.

6. No Vehicles: The Wulfen will not fight alongside vehicles (Vehicles  include tanks, skimmers and transports. An exception to this rule is the special character Dreadnought detailed later)

7. Hate Vehicles: As the Wulfens genetic mutation becomes more pronounced, they become more alike in nature to the wolves that they take their name from. This leads to an almost instinctive hatred of all 'metallic monstrosities'. While most units in the 40K universe test for tank shock the Wulfen do not. Instead if attacked or tank shocked by a vehicle (this includes tanks, skimmers ,transports) wulfen units may chose to make a special attack instead of their usual ones. This special attack consists of D6 attacks at double strength (to a maximum of S10)with 1D6 armour penetration. Wulfen units may also choose to make this special attack when assaulting a vehicle. Unfortunately if the Wulfen are tank shocked and the vehicle survives the Wulfen attempts to stop or destroy it, then the unit is wiped out (so, in essence the Wulfen must get a result of immobilised, stunned or destroyed on the damage chart to survive the tank shock). The Wulfen are not wiped out if they fail to stop the vehicle if they were the ones who assaulted. Note, Wulfen when tank shocked must always attempt to destroy the vehicle, they may not take a leadership test to dodge from the tanks path.

8. Wulfen Berserk Charge: The Wulfen are crazed warriors, whose ferocious charges can often overrun the enemy with pure power. A Wulfen units gets +D6 attacks when it charges. These attacks are worked out with the stats and equipment that most of the unit use, e.g. A Wulfen pack armed with close combat weapons, led by a Wulfen character armed with a power weapon charges, the unit gains +D6 attacks and these attacks are worked out using the weapon skill and strength of the Wulfen warriors, not the characters, and with close combat weapons.

9. Erratic Movement: Wulfen movement is different from other troop types. All Wulfen models move 2D6" in the movement phase, and can charge up to 6" in the assault phase. This represents the erratic nature of these warriors as they become more and more wolf like. Wulfen may only move normally if they are led by a Wulfen Priest.

10. Wulfen Anomosity: As the Wulfen become more wolf like they can begin to see their fellow Wulfen Packs as 'rivals'. This can lead to bitter fighting between the packs. Wulfen packs within 3" of each other must take a standard leadership test, and if they fail they must roll a D6 and check the result on the Wulfen Animosity Table. If Wulfen units become involved in a close combat with the same enemy unit they must both once again take a leadership test, if they fail they roll a D6 and check on the Wulfen Combat Table.

Wulfen Anomosity Table

D6 Results
1 If this result comes up, then this unit will charge the nearby Wulfen unit. They will fight until the unit that charged passes a leadership test.
2-5   Both units end up yelling battle cries at each other and bellowing challenges, and will do nothing for this turn, but will fight back if attacked.
6. Will act as normal.

 Wulfen Combat Table

D6 Results
1 Will attack their fellow Wulfen pack and ignore enemy unit, test next turn again to see if they stop in fighting.
2-5   Both units are distracted by the proximity to each other, and they halve the number of attacks they make against the enemy due to this.
6. Both units will act as usual and fight the enemy with their full energy.
