Sisters of Battle

Sisters of Battle are quite a good army for the expert as they are fairly fast with jump-packs and they have a Power armour save of 3+ so it is not likely that they will die on the first turn but at the same time, they have bad toughness and you will find yourself taking armour saves every ten seconds! Even with Power armour, they will be dropping like flies!

My Immolator looks quite good I think and I have spent a fair amount of time hi-lighting it although you cannot see that very well here. To hi-light the black, I used a mixture of Space Wolf grey and Regal Blue with about 2 parts to 1 respectively so it looked quite light.

I first decided to collect Sisters of Battle because they were on sale (actually, they were half price) so I thought I might as well give them a go because I think that the models look really good. They are quite easy to paint quickly and they look reasonable, but if you want to make your squad, even army look spectacular, you had better be prepared to spend a long time at the painting table.

I have lost count about how many games I have won but I have lost one too many and this army hasn't really done me proud. It is a good mixture of strength with speed and you can g o fast if the need arises but you can also be powerful if your opponents army is strong but unless you are an expert, you will find it hard to use them. My favourite figures are the Seraphim. I think that the models look really good and if they are painted well, you can look at they and feel proud.  It is amazing what effect you can get and with what speed you can paint with when you give your models a spray undercoat, dry brush and put on a bit of detail.

My Canoness looks pretty bad because I have not spent very long painting it. It does not really matter because it always seems to die straight away. I have to say that I don't think that it is a very good character to be leading the whole of the Sisters of Battle in a game. One of my Veteran Sister Superiors could do better!! The only time I have ever seen a Canoness do remotely well was in one of my first games of Warhammer 40K at Games Workshop. She went toe to toe with a Tyranid Carnifex and she survived for about 3 turns and kept us in the game although most of the work was done by the Wolf-guard Terminators with chainfists.
