Salamander Tactical Squads  

Tactical squads should form the bulk of any space marine army as they are very flexible. There good BS, S4 boltguns and various weapon options make them great for shooting and their WS4 and 3+ save make them quite a match in combat too. With a Salamander tactical squad you have the option of equipping a salamander with a a different heavy weapon, the multi-melta. In Devestator squads these are not worth the 35pts as they have too short a range and the 2D6 penetration roll is rarely used, but i find them very effective when put in a tactical squad. I find that they’re great for destroying transports such as rhinos because they have to come near you and you get the chance to use the 2D6 penetration roll. I’ve even been able to destroy a land raider crusader which came up to drop off its troops and got a nasty surprise when their 255pt transport disappeared. Another thing i would recommend is always take 10 man tactical squads as they have a much higher survivability and if you get the chance to rapid fire their boltguns into a unit the results can be devestating.
