Deathguard Chaos Marines The
Death Guard are one of the first 20 legions of Space Marines. During the
course of the Horus Heresy they turned to Chaos while under the effects
of a mysterious and deadly plague, turning in particular to the God of
Decay. Most
people assume that all of the Deathguard eventually became Plague
Marines, however I didn’t think that this was the case. Instead I
envisioned the Plague marines as members of the Deathguard who had been
in the advance stages of the disease when Nurgle halted it. Consequently
when I was trying to decide what army to take to the Waaagh last January
I thought that Death Guard would make a nice change from my usual
armies. Unlike
my other armies where I try to change my tactics with each battle, there
has always been only one tactic that I ever use with my Death Guard, the
counter attack. Essentially this involves my Havocs and normal marines
shooting the crap out of my opponents army and then charging in with my
Plague Marines, Plague Marine Terminators, Plague Bearers and Great
Unclean One when the enemy gets near. Usually it works quite well. The
biggest influence on my decision to collect a Death Guard army was the
Great unclean one. The model is beautiful. Very beautiful. Very very
beautiful. Really pretty. Nice rotting flesh. Lovely sword and flail.
Very beautiful. (Joe stop it, you’re scaring the readers- Wei). Oh
um sorry about that I got a bit sidetracked there. Anyway this section
is dedicated to the Death Guard and their patron Nurgle. So read on and
take heed: “Nurgle’s
rot to those who do not fear us!”
