Spyrers A
few months ago I was playing Necromunda quite frequently against a
Genestealer cult. This cult was incredibly powerful, the magus had
attained a level of psychic power normally only seen with Eldar Farseers,
the Genestealer was a nightmare specialist at hand to hand, and the rest
of the cult could shoot the crap out of anyone who got in range. I tried
using several gangs to bring them down, but all my attempts ended with
my gangs in ruins. So
one day as I was looking through the Necromunda rule book I came across
the Spyrer list. A few manical laughs later I had made a gang.
The gang consisted of about 5 models (1 Malcadon, 2
Jakkara and 2 Yeld) and each one had about 3d6 starting experience. When no one died after the first game I was impressed enough to continue with the gang, and soon they were beating the crap out of everyone I encountered. In
the end (4 battles later) one of my Jakkara’s was to all extents and
purposes a Callidus assassin without polymorphine (i.e. high weapon
skill, jump back, many parries etc), the Yelds had become almost
unbeatable snipers (long range, usually –3 to be hit in cover) and the
Malcadon was becoming very good at infiltrating close to enemy lines. But as with all revenge gangs/armies there was little to keep me interested after the first few games. So when I began to miss the good old Wyrd coven I decided that I’d had enough revenge and went back to them. But maybe one day I might dig up the Spyrers and once more bring terror to everyone I play against.
