Tallarn Armoured 7th

Written by Joseph Channon

On the third day I asked commander Al’Rham why his company favoured the use of tanks as much as it did. The answer to this question proved to be twofold.

Firstly he had once observed the ease with which the other Steel legions could adapt to new environments, something which is to be desired of any fighting force that is too used to one world to fight on any other, and secondly he saw another advantage of this force that many other commanders have over looked.

Al’Rham’s troops spend most of their tours of duty on desert worlds such as Tallarn. On such worlds it is not uncommon for midday temperatures to exceed 110 degrees (and in some cases even higher), at such temperatures troops will often pass out and dehydrate, which is not only bad for their morale but is also dangerous if an invasion should occur. The only real way to combat this is to find shade to keep the troops cool, and the best form of portable shade is the tank.

The tanks in Al’Rham’s company serve to keep his troops upright as well as forming a steady battle line. After hearing this method and seeing the effectiveness of Al’Rham’s troops in several skirmishes I recommended that such a force be stationed on every desert world, the suggestion being passed by the high lords themselves 3 months later.

From Inquisitor Hoth’s study of the regiments serving the Imperial Guard.
