Eldar Corsairs

Of all the ships in gothic, those of the Eldar definitely look the best. All of the models really capture the spirit of the army. The Eldar have been exploring the stars long before the Imperium or any other race has. Of all the races, their ships are the most sophisticated and technologically advanced (second only to the Necrons). The Eldar are natural space farers, and can handle almost any situation encountered successfully with their combination of technology and skill.

An Eldar Fleet is a lot different to other fleets as they have a large variety of new rules. One of the new rules is the Eldar’s movement, which is very different to normal ship movement. Eldar Ships are powered by sunlight hitting their large solar panels of their ships, which powers them. So with an Eldar fleet, your speed is decided by where the sunlight is facing on your ship. Also, unlike other ships, which have a turning arc, Eldar ships are free to turn any direction at the start of their turn (although they can only make one turn and that is it). Eldar ships are also allowed to make a second move in the ordanance phase meaning that their ships are the fastest and most maneuverable in the galaxy (so far).

I wouldn’t recommend an Eldar fleet if you are a beginner to gothic, instead stick with the other races as they use the basic rules. Once you’ve got the hang of the rules then move to an Eldar fleet, but you’ll have to play around with them a lot to get to know how to use them best, because if used correctly they can be devastating.

One thing is if there is a lot of celestial phenomenon on the table as you can fly out, shoot your enemy, and then dart off and hide again, because as the old saying goes;

“You may as well try to catch starlight as bring the Eldar to battle.”
