Dark Angels

The Dark Angels were the first of the 20 founding legions, born from the Gene-seed of their Primarch Lion El Johnson they have been the guardians of the Imperium since the time of the Emperor.

The Dark Angels are the chapter that I have played with since the second edition of 40k, when they tempted me away from my Tyranids.

Initially I collected them only because I wanted a marine army that was different to the armies my friends collected and the only other choice was Blood Angels who I detest. However once I had read their background I decided that I had made the right choice, and since then I haven’t really looked back.

The core of my army is centred around large numbers of tactical marines, several scout squads and support from devastators and assault marines. I also use various tanks (usually a vindicator or a predator), a dreadnought (named Vincent) and occasionally a squad of Deathwing terminators or Ravenwing bikers.

However my armies nearly also focus on having large numbers of tactical marines (about 40 is standard) and some supporting characters and specialist units (though because of their high cost I rarely use Ravenwing or Deathwing and certainly never both). This type of army selection is the unfortunate side effect of collecting Tyranids for so long, and I still occasionally get the urge to charge all my units into a single combat (though thankfully the intractable rule has prevented me from doing this against terminators and stuff like that).
