Black Templars Emperor's Champion

Most people underestimate the Emperor’s Champion. I know I did. Even though his stats don’t look that good on paper in reality he is lethal. In every game I just send him towards the enemy Commander and challenge them. It is a good idea to use the Black Sword with both hands against enemies with 3 wounds. That way he can use the sword double handed and 'instant kill' them. Even though he strikes last, with two wounds, a 2+ armour save and an Iron Halo he can stand up to severe punishment.

Games Workshop have released the Emperor's Champion as a special edition miniature in the UK. It will only be on sale for a couple of days which I find is a little unfair. Aspiring Black Templar players will not be able to get their hands on it considering that the Emperor's Champion is a compulsory unit.

It is difficult to play 500 points and include the Emperor’s Champion. On top of that as he does not count as an HQ choice an extra character must be taken. This means that at least 150 points out of 500 will be spent on 2 models. Therefore as a house rule, he does count as an HQ choice in battles of 1000 points or less.

Make no mistake. The Emperor's Champion is a game winning model. Never leave home without one.
